Meet Carina, our Team Leader at Lotus House

Carina moved to the UK from Portugal in May 2015 and is now Team Leader at Mentaur’s Lotus House in Bedfordshire. We spoke with Carina to find out about her recent relocation and how she has found her first few months in the UK and at Mentaur.
Before Mentaur, what type of industry did you work in?
I was a Social Worker back in Portugal so I already had a lot of experience working within the care sector. I really enjoyed the role, but at the time I was seeking a fresh challenge and a new type of opportunity in a growing organisation.
How did you hear about the opportunities available at Mentaur?
I’d been considering a career change, and ideally wanted to find an opportunity to relocate to England. I came across Mentaur’s advert in a Portuguese newspaper and jumped at the chance to apply!
How did you find relocating to the UK?
Really straightforward. Much of my documentation was in Portuguese, but that was no problem for Mentaur; their HR department were really helpful in guiding me through the process to secure my legal documentation so I could start work as soon as possible. Finding somewhere to live was very easy too; Mentaur again were happy to help, providing me with websites where I could view available properties, offering support every step of the way.
What is it like to work at Mentaur and live in the UK?
It’s great! I really enjoy being part of a successful and growing company offering a fantastic service, and I feel that within this role I have opportunities available to me to continually develop my knowledge and progress my career. It’s wonderful to be living my dream in moving to the UK; it’s a beautiful country, everyone has been incredibly welcoming, and I’m so glad I made the move!
