Mentaur Celebrates 28 Years in Business

In June 1988 Isabel Santos Melo and Dr Shekhar Mukherji co-founded Mentaur Ltd as a forward thinking and progressive care provider, offering specialist residential and day care resources to vulnerable people. Over the years Mentaur Ltd has grown to become a regionally recognised and award winning care provider, with ten care homes across Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Leicestershire.
Mentaur Ltd has also paved the way to new thinking in the learning disabilities sector, hosting three conferences in the UK and Portugal and contributing to the design of a new tool to assess the quality of life outcomes for people with autism.
Mentaur CEO Isabel Santos Melo is delighted with the far reaching impact Mentaur has had over the last 28 years, stating; “When Shekhar and I founded Mentaur Ltd in 1988, we had a clear vision to offer vulnerable people in our society more freedom and choice in their lives. Although much has changed since our early years, our principles of family, dignity, respect and independence remain at the heart of our business. I’m looking forward to what lies ahead!”
Dr Shekhar Mukherji, Mentaur’s Director, said, “The Mentaur Group relives the passion and energy of its birth every 8th June, and on this our 28th birthday we look forward, with the same energy and vision, to another year of innovation, growth and breaking down more barriers for our differently abled friends.”
With our newest care home, Savana, due to be opening in September 2016, the future looks exciting for Mentaur. Savana is our largest project to date and will offer various models of support and care, including tenancies, supported living and support/care regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
