Mentaur welcomes RTP to Head Office for filming “Hora dos Portugueses”

February 12, 2016

This week Mentaur welcomed RTP, the national Portuguese television, to our operations in Northampton. RTP came to interview our CEO Isabel Santos Melo for an up and coming episode of “Hora dos Portugueses” (Finest Hours of the Portuguese), a programme designed to celebrate Portuguese nationals around the world making a difference in their adopted country.

Following her recent awards wins, namely the “Outstanding Contribution to Social Care” award in 2014 and the “Business Person of the Year” award in 2015, in addition to Mentaur’s continued growth and success, Isabel was approached by RTP and invited to appear in the programme.

In interviews based at our Head Office and in a visit to meet the team at Wilton House, Isabel was invited to discuss her integration in the UK and how she quickly progressed her career, through to co-founding Mentaur Ltd in 1988, inspired by a desire to offer people living with learning disabilities, mental disorder, dementia and autism a care service founded on the principles of independence, freedom and choice.

Isabel said, “It is an honour for me to be the focal point for this instalment of RTP’s “Hora dos Portugueses”; to be recognised in this way by the Portuguese national television is overwhelming. This broadcast will be our opportunity to share with the globe our commitment to personalised and choice-led care services and I am touched by the recognition both I and the Mentaur team have received for simply doing a job we care very passionately about.”

With an audience of millions, here at Mentaur we are delighted that Isabel’s story of success will be heard across the globe and that her achievements will be celebrated in this fitting tribute.
