Meet Ernest, Our House Manager at The Berkeley
September 22, 2015
Ernest is currently Manager at The Berkeley in Northampton. This week, he’s celebrating 10 years working at Mentaur. We caught up with Ernest last week about his experiences working at Mentaur.
Why Mentaur?
When I first joined Mentaur, I had no experience in the care industry. I started as a Support Worker, and what’s been great about working at Mentaur is the opportunity I’ve had to progress. From day one I’ve had lots of training opportunities available to me, meaning I’ve been able to progress from Support Worker, to Senior and Team Leader, and within six years I became a Manager.
What do you most enjoy about being a House Manager at Mentaur?
It’s fantastic having the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives; I’ve always tried to put a lot of effort into helping people to more independent living. I always do everything I can to make people feel at home. I think colleagues would agree with me that it’s nice when our efforts are recognised, but what’s truly rewarding is seeing the people we care for improving every day.
How do you see yourself progressing within Mentaur?
The sky’s the limit! I want to continue offering great care services and making a difference to people’s lives. I know in my role in Mentaur I will have every opportunity over the years to further develop my knowledge and skills in my profession and I’m looking forward to it.
What would you say to people considering a role at Mentaur?
I would say there’s a lot of opportunity for growth at Mentaur. Working in the care industry is not always easy, but with hard work people can truly progress their career here, and Mentaur is a company that recognises those who work hard and offers the opportunity for people to develop. It’s all up to you!
