Orchid House

Orchid House is a specialist-supported living service with 24-hour regulated care and support through the Mentaur Support Services Division.  The service is specifically designed to support young adults with learning disabilities, autism mental and health needs. Orchid House provides a home for six adults of either sex seeking to improve their independent living skills who will be encouraged to aim to move on to more independent forms of living. There are three good-sized bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on the ground floor, suitable for individuals with moderate mobility issues. However, the ground floor is not wheelchair accessible. This family-sized home is in the thriving town of Kempston, Bedford and is situated close to local amenities including shops, recreational facilities, parks, community centres, doctor's surgeries and a library. It is also within reach of Bedford town centre offering its own basket of educational, leisure and other facilities. Bus routes are on the doorstep allowing access to public transport.

As an individualised service, at Orchid House, Mentaur Support Services Division promotes the concept of person-centred care, adopting the ethos of freedom and choice and promoting independence by supporting transition. To this end, people using the service have greater control over their own spaces and develop skills of independence including managing their accommodation and finances within the context of a supportive environment.
